A dog and her owner were joyously reunited after a Kingston borough-wide social media campaign tracked the runaway pet across the borough for a week.

Kerrie-Anne Ford, 38, of  Fulham Road, Fulham, left her miniature pinscher Paris with her boyfriend Jiles Aldridge while he worked at Harts Boatyard in Surbiton on December 2.

When Paris unexpectedly darted into the distance, her owner took to social media sites Facebook and Doglost to try and find her, galvanising pet detectives across Kingston into action.

Miss Ford said: “My boyfriend was looking after her at his building job. We think she got spooked or chased a cat or something.

“Then we saw a post that some person had seen her.

“Eventually we saw that she had been to Berrylands, Surbiton and Kingston.”

Paris roamed the streets of the borough for a week, as Kingston residents updated her owner with texts and messages of sightings.

Bruce Bovill, 68, of South Terrace, Surbiton, was one of those residents following Paris’ journey and saw her himself.

He said: “I was on a 281 bus to Kingston last Friday [December 4], when, at the junction of Surbiton Road and Penrhyn Road, I saw the dog walking briskly on the pavement, alongside the bus. It looked like it owned the place.”

In a twist, it was Mr Aldridge who found  Paris,  near a bin outside Jamie’s Italian restaurant in Kingston High Street.

Miss Ford said: “He was anxious to get her back. He knew what she meant to me and felt terrible, which is why he never quit and stayed out all night.

“He was just looking in the area and called her name, she just darted out from behind a bin. I could not imagine not having her in my life, so many people were out helping.”
