Lidl is planning to move its UK headquarters to Jubilee Way, Tolworth.

Subject to planning permission, the building will have a 750-person capacity. We asked our readers do you think this is a good idea for the area? You can also let us know at letters@surreycomet.co.uk

Surrey Comet:

George Pearson, 67, a designer and printer working in Tolworth: "I would have to say yes, really, because it is populating the area more and maybe when that happens there will be better facilities. I think it could well develop the area better. It's a shame for the kids that use that scrambling centre."

Surrey Comet:

Sue Ilsley, 65, an independent trainer from Tolworth: "I don't. It's just going to bring more people, more parking problems and we are already worried in the area about the Tesco site.

"We are just mightily puzzled as to how these things sort of happen. I know we need homes in the area, and then all of a sudden we have this huge headquarters moving in. It's bonkers."

Surrey Comet:

Maita Siudeja, 33, a stay-at-home mum from Tolworth: "If you are going to give people a job that would be lovely, but I'm not sure if people are going to like it.

"If they are going to create some jobs that would be a good idea. And we like Lidl so we might like those people as well."

Surrey Comet:

Shaeela Yousaf, 33, a Tesco worker from Tolworth: "That will be great. It would be a good thing for the area because there are no local jobs - just a Sainsbury’s here and a Tesco there, and so I think there needs to be more improvement."

Surrey Comet:

Roger Langton, 78, retired, from Chessington: "I think it's a good thing for the area because it's creating jobs. I don't see anything wrong with it and if it's creating jobs that’s good."

Surrey Comet:

Jack Daley, 38, a civil servant from Surbiton: "If there's going to be jobs, 750 people working there it could be a good thing. But I don't know about access up there because the roundabout is pretty bad as it is, and the traffic here most mornings and evenings I think is pretty bad. So unless they're going to do something to improve the infrastructure in terms of transport routes in, it could be a bit of a problem potentially."
