Would a regenerated Eden Walk shopping centre - complete with 19-storey tower block - be a help or a hindrance to Kingston?
Conor Lorigan went in to the town centre to find out what shoppers thought.
Lucy Macdonald, 25, MA student, Kingston: "It is a central point of the community and it wouldn’t be a bad thing to make it over, open up the walkways or rebuild the place.
"The high end expensive shops proposed could push some residents out of the area."
Eddie Kear, 69, retired, Kingston: "I like it as it is.
"They’ve said it’s for more eating places, restaurants and cafes but we’re already overloaded with eating places."

Patricia Lavington, 83, retired, Kingston: "We don’t want any more developments.
"The town would be decimated if these developments continue to go ahead."
Andrew Drodrauon, 19, student, Kingston: "The development could make it more expensive to shop here but might give more shopping options."
