They say the sky is the limit when it comes to our imaginations.

I still think I will be a pop star or a high-flying lawyer, and the dreams I have when I am sleeping are even more strange and obscure.

So it was no surprise that my son woke up in the middle of the night saying a toad from the garden had jumped on to his legs and he wanted me to get rid of it.

Luckily for me, it was clearly a vivid dream, otherwise Michael would have had the removal job.

I tucked him back into bed and told him Daddy and Mummy would always look after him and not to worry.

Children’s imaginations are great, especially when it comes to my two.

They are so animated and inquisitive, and love thinking about what it would be like to be someone else, or even something else. So this week, we have been going into overdrive with our role playing.

Luckily, Michael wanted to go to drama school many moons ago and I did a bit of acting in the past, so some of those skills have come into good use.

My son told us the characters to play – which ranged from dragons with sharp teeth, to a knight in shining armour and even a princess (Michael plays this part exceptionally well).

We have to be convincing, with appropriate voice changes, otherwise he is not happy. It is hilarious.

As you can imagine, there is no room for being shy or having any inhibitions. That is what I love about children, they do not worry about any of that, they just get on with it.

I found an old picture of Michael and I on holiday in Italy. Yes, the good old days, when we could jet off when we wanted and watch what we wanted on television. It is funny, but I would not have it any other way now.
