A man has been taken to hospital after sustaining stab wounds in an assault in Hampton Wick earlier today.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Cedars Road at 3.30pm and a 26-year-old man was found to have stab injuries to his leg.

He was taken by ambulance to a west London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Residents posted on Twitter the junction of Cedars Road with Vicarage Road had been cordoned off by police.

Brian Kemp, who lives in Vicarage Road, said he saw three police cars arrive and officers remained in the area during the evening.

He added: “The police brought a dog with them and taped off a large area. One officer told me someone had been assaulted.

"It’s a very unusual thing to happen around here. You just don’t get any crime like this at all.”

A resident of Cedars Road said: “My neighbour called me very frightened to ask what was going on. We thought it might have been a burglary.

“It’s normally a very quiet, boring area.”

  • Two teenagers aged 16 and 18 years old were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and taken to a west London police station. The Met initially said a 19-year-old man had been arrested.
