Floral tributes have been placed at the spot where a 55-year-old man was struck by a car in New Malden.

Stephen Law, who died later in hospital, lived in Mitcham and was a well-known face in Colliers Wood, and enjoyed drinking in The Charles Holden pub in the High Street.

Mr Law, who was known as Dog to his friends, has been described as a true gentleman who will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

Floral tributes have been left at the zebra crossing next to where the crash happened on Tuesday last week.

A note left on a bunch of flowers said: "RIP Dog. Our hearts are with you. The loveliest man ever. You will be sorely missed. We’ll raise a glass to you."

A tribute from a man leaving his name as Billy said: "Hard to believe I saw him last Sunday in our local and he was so full of life.

"The life of a good man who cared about so many people has been snuffed out like a light. Gone too soon mate."

Police are investigating the collision which happened just after 7am on Tuesday, March 10, in Kingston Road, New Malden.

The driver of the car stopped after the crash.

No one has been arrested and the accident is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
