A man has been charged over an alleged assault at a Kingston newsagent, following a police appeal for help.

James Sexton, 28, of Holmwood Road, Chessington, will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 9, charged with common assault and a public order offence.

He is accused of attacking a 29-year-old shop worker at Best One in High Street in September.

It was said at the time a step-ladder the worker was standing on was shaken in a threatening way.

Two other men wanted in connection with the attack were interviewed by police and released with no further action.
