Singer songwriter Jamie T will celebrate the release of his new album with a gig in Kingston next month.

The Sticks 'n' Stones singer will headline Banquet Records' weekly New Slang night on October 2, to coincide with the launch of third album, Carry on the Grudge.

It is the first new release from the Wimbledon-born artist - real name Jamie Treays - for five years, following up 2009's Kings and Queens album and the subsequent The Man's Machine EP.

Described by NME as an "all-singing, all-swaggering one-man Arctic Monkey", specialising in tales of booze, girls and being broke, the award-winning singer came to public attention with his Mercury Prize-nominated debut album Panic Prevention in 2007.

His intimate show at McClusky's in Thames Street preceds a full UK tour, including dates at the Alexander palce and the O2 Academy in Leeds.

Tickets for the Kingston date go on sale at 6pm this Monday, September 15, and will only be available over the counter at Banquet Records in Eden Street.

Any remaining tickets will go on sale via the Banquet Records website from 11am on Tuesday, September 16.

An additional 100 tickets will be reserved for Kingston University freshers.

Banquet manager Jon Trolley said: “A Wimbledon lad, we were lucky to see Jamie T from near enough day one.

"Over the last few years he's seen an astronomical rise, based on song after song, and now album after album, of sheer brilliance.

"We expect this to sell out very quick.”

Doors open at 9pm, and as the event is 18+, ID is required.
