Post mortem examinations for the three children found dead in a New Malden home will take place today as fresh flowers and toys were left outside.

The bodies of two three-year old twin boys and a four-year-old girl, all with genetic disorders, will be examined at Great Ormond Street Hospital later today.

Police were called at about 9.30pm on Tuesday night when they discovered the bodies at a five bedroom home in Thetford Road.

A 42-year-old woman remains in custody at a south London police station after officers launched a murder investigation.

The woman, reported to be the children's mother, has not been charged.

The parents of the children have been named locally as Gary and Tania Clarence, a South African married couple who moved to New Malden with their four children last year from Durnsford Avenue in Wimbledon.

Mr Clarence, an investment banker, is believed to have been on holiday in South Africa with the family's eldest daughter Taya, who is not disabled, at the time of the deaths.

Forensic teams were seen entering the home yesterday afternoon.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command is investigating and an incident room has been opened in Sutton under Detective Chief Inspector Diane Tudway, but officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Anyone with any information can call the incident room on 020 8721 4005 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
