Oceana bosses have released the first pictures of what the nightclub will look like once it reopens next month under the new name Pryzm.

An artist’s impression of the Clarence Street venue’s £1m revamp shows a new over-21’s room and booth-seating overlooking one of the club’s dancefloors.

Both areas are bathed in green light with a new design and layout.

Oceana manager Dan Corry said: “Not only will each of our rooms be revamped with stunning décor but they will also have new names to match their individual characteristics from glamorous and elegant to contemporary and high tech styling.

“We will also be installing the very latest sound and lighting systems with world class DJs and PAs appearing on a regular basis.

“We are all really excited about the plans and can’t wait to reveal the new Pryzm to our customers.”

Oceana will relaunch as Pryzm next month

Work is already underway to rebrand the troubled nightclub, which had its licence revoked by Kingston Council last year following the fatal stabbing of clubber Jamie Sanderson on October 25.

The licence was handed back in June when club owner Luminar struck a deal with the council after agreeing to a series of restrictions.

Shortly afterwards, Luminar announced it was ditching the Oceana brand in favour of Pryzm, which is being rolled out to all 10 UK clubs currently under that name.

Luminar says the new Pryzm brand will appeal to a “more mature” customer, with the downstairs dance room open only for clubbers over 21 years old and table service offered throughout.

The redesign will also see the number of entry lanes into the club increased from two to three, which Luminar said will reduce waiting times while retaining the club’s “stringent” security checks.

Oceana will remain open throughout the building works, save for a short closure before re-opening as Pryzm on November 15.
