John Ball School has teamed up with All Saint’s School to present to you our Heath for Health schools & community Fun Run. The fun run will take place on Blackheath on Sunday 27th April 2014, beginning with a fun and dynamic Dance based warm up from Laura Joyes, a 5km run for adults and families starting at 10:30 am, followed by a one mile race for children at 11:30 am.

The children’s only event is a 1mile route which children could walk, jog or run. It is a manageable distance which should encourage children of all abilities to take part. The 5km event is open for parents, staff, families & adults in the local community. Children may participate but only with an adult, who will complete the event with the child. Again, all abilities are welcome.

This is an event which we hope will be a great starting point for introducing reticent children & adults to exercise. For complete beginners and families, we will provide training sessions FREE of charge to entrants from March. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd places awarded to participants, who are running the event competitively and a race clock so that all entrants can work on personal bests or with the view to improve their time in future events. All runners will receive a bespoke running number and Heath for Health medal.

The charge for entering our event is £10 per adult and children are free of charge with a pledge to raise £5 through sponsorship (see note below). We anticipate this event to be a real community event, an important fundraiser for the school and four very important charities, MacMillian Cancer Support, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Action for Children and Cancer Research. The benefits of participating, we hope to extend well beyond the event day.

We hope that our Heath for Health will become a highly anticipated annual event and we really hope that you will encourage your children, friends, colleagues and family to take part.

This event has kindly been sponsored by Jones Lang LaSalle Fundraising activities for charities Children may still participate if they do not wish or are unable to pledge the £5 The school may, from time to time, take part in fundraising activities to raise funds for charities not connected with the school and at the discretion of the Head Teacher. No child will be treated differently or pressurised for not taking part in the activity or contributing financially or otherwise. The Classroom Teacher may collect financial or other contributions in an open classroom, but will do so in such a way as to not cause embarrassment to any child.
