The country’s foremost rehabilitation centre for injured soldiers is to receive £5million to refurbish wards and accommodation.
Headley Court, in Epsom, is to be given the money by the Ministry of Defence.
The commitment was announced by the Defence Secretary Philip Hammond at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham earlier this month.
As reported by the BBC, Mr Hammond told the conference: "One of my most humbling experiences in this job was my first visit to Headley Court, seeing the discipline and determination with which servicemen and women face and overcome terrible, life-changing combat injuries."
"We constantly invest in staff, facilities, patient welfare and treatments and this additional £5million will further improve the infrastructure to ensure our injured service personnel get the very best."
