A 16-year-old boy was found with serious face injuries after getting into a car at Banstead railway station.
Detectives have appealed for information after the lad was discovered in the car park of Homebase, in Reigate, on Thursday, August 26.
Paramedics took him to East Surrey Hospital, in Redhill, where surgeons operated on his face.
Surrey Police believe he got into a Vauxhall Corsa at the station between 7.30pm and 8pm and was driven to the Cotmandene area of Dorking, but do not know how he got his injuries or ended up in Reigate.
Detective Constable Dion O’Shea, of Surrey Police, said: “It is vital we build up a clear picture of what happened that evening. At some stage the victim received serious facial injuries and we need to find out how, where and why they occurred.”
