Sutton UFO sighting appears in government files

The sighting of a bright flying sphere above Sutton deserved a mention in secret government UFO files, it has emerged.

A baffled resident had a close encounter of the first kind when a bright circular object with white lighting and no sound hovered above their residence, flying lower than a 10-storey building, in 1993.

The report of the sighting featured in a second batch of formerly confidential documents registering UFO sightings all over the country, between 1981 and 1996, released by the MoD last month.

According to the files, which were kept secret for years, it was possible that the same UFO had been spotted in Streatham half an hour before and in Esher 20 minutes after it visited Sutton.

An analysis of the sighting by an expert read:”A low-flying circular object, flying from east to Streatham is reported.

Once again, it’s difficult to know whether we are dealing with the same object.

“If we are, why did it take so long to reach Sutton, only four to five miles away? So perhaps this was another device which had just been delivered to the scene?”

The incident was reported 16 years ago, but it looks like the little men from space are still keen to visit the borough, after a couple reported a sighting in Carshalton during the Bank Holiday weekend.

A resident identified only as C Robertson posted an account of their own encounter on Saturday, on the busy UK UFO Sightings blog.

It read: “Me and my boyfriend were sitting outside in the garden when we noticed a low-flying object, bright burning orange in colour and moving smoothly at a constant speed.

“After a few minutes the object slowly dimmed and then disappeared.

“During the course of an hour we saw a total of ten of these objects which all seemed to follow the same path and dimming before disappearing like the first one did. It was spectacular to watch.

“What was really strange was how they all were exact in shape and size, colour, speed. There were also no sight of navigation flashing lights like you would expect with a plane.”

I'd heard it was Paul Burstow's halo shining brightly in the sky, the rapid acceleration can be explained easily, he'd heard there was a photo opportunity he was missing.

We too saw them over Sutton/Carshalton on Sunday evening, they were the Celebration Sky Lanterns!! Not UFO's

Or it was a group of people (us) in a Sutton garden releasing rememberance balloons into the sky on the night of Saturday 29th August.
When lit, they glow orange through the white sugar paper and after looking back at our photos we believe this is what was seen. We released nine of them over the course of 15 minutes.

well about a month before this bank holiday just passed i see ten, orange balls of light moving quite quickly across the sky.it was a sunday night about ten minutes past midnight and i was looking towards the gasomiter in wrythe lane from my house in welbeck road.they were about as high as an air plane, all following in a line about a mlie apart, and one by one they got to a point in the sky and suddenly went straight up out of tha atmosphere at a very fast rate of speed, all this took about half an hour.so i beg to ask are there really these ballons that can glow as bright as an aircrafts headlight and travel faster than anything i seen on earth, and follow a perfect pattern like this,i think not.why dont the goverment come clean and tell us the truth that we are not the only living form of life in the universe and that we do have genuine visits from outer space as i spend a lot of time at night studying the skies and i have seen some very strange lights, movements and aircraft throught my telescope and with the naked eye.a few freinds and neighbours have seen some activity in the sky over wrythe lane, welbeck road junction over this past month, lots of shooting stars and meteor storms, also whats called space debris flashing through the sky late at night.but the most puzling for me is twice now i have seen a bright light high in the sky at night, looking like a star and moving slowly across the sky at a slow pace, too high for a plane or helicopter.can anyone explain this?

There have been several reports recently of people harassing police helicopters with laser pens (mostly on the north side of London).
Could these laser pens, shining on low cloud, account for some of the recent sightings of 'UFOs' which suddenly dart away at amazing speeds?
