Six triplets who were born on the same day in the same hospital were among the top achievers at the Beacon School this morning.

60 per cent of GCSE students at the school, in Picquets Way, Banstead, achieved five or more grades at A* to C including English and maths – its best results ever – and 185 grades were at A* or A, which is more than double last year’s figure.

Two sets of triplets, the Heavens and the Dowds, all achieved at least six passes.

Georgia Heaven achieved 12 A*s and As, Darcy Dowd achieved 7 A*s and As, and Harry Heaven achieved 5 A*s and As.

Between the six of them, they gained 27 A* and As.

Other high achievers included Amy White who got 11 As and A*s, Gordon Kawuna who achieved 8 A*s and As, Lauren Coleman who got 7 A*s and As, Lili Reilly who was awarded 6 A*s and As, Sam Thompson who received an A* in Maths and A* in Further Maths and Georgie Ashenford who achieved 5 As.

Lisa Croke, principal, said: ‘Our young people have done superbly well this year, achieving the grades they richly deserve and that set them up for very bright futures.

“The school is totally committed to raising attainment and, year on year, the results get better and better.

“We are confidently on track to be judged ‘outstanding’ at our next Ofsted inspection.

“In these times of significant educational change, I am especially proud of my staff who have driven up the quality of learning and achievement within a great deal of uncertainty about how the examinations would be marked.

“This is a significant year for us and we look forward to the new challenges and opportunities ahead.

“A high number of the Year 11 students are returning to the Beacon Sixth Form in September, making it the biggest in the school’s history.”

Jane Davies, director of Sixth Form, added: “We are expecting 130 students to take up A Levels with us next month, which, with the new Year 13s, will make us one of the biggest cohorts in Surrey.

“It is very exciting to see our young people do well at GCSE, as this sets them up for strong performance in the future.

“Year on year, a growing percentage achieve university places and I look forward to seeing our new intake move on to exciting academic pathways.”
