Police have released an e-fit of a man they are hunting over the sexual assault of a teenage girl on Tuesday.

The Asian man in his 30s grabbed the teenager’s clothes as she walked along a footpath between Castle Road and Wells Road by Spa Drive, in Epsom, at about 3.25pm.

The victim managed to break free but was left "extremely shaken" by the attack, which has sent shockwaves through the community.

Your Local Guardian:

Temporary Epsom and Ewell Neighbourhood Inspector Michael Hodder posted an update on the investigation on his team's Facebook page yesterday.

He said: "Loads of enquiries resulting in some positive leads regarding the alleged sexual assault."

Detective Sergeant Ruth Atkins said: "I would urge anyone who was in Wells Road, Castle Road or the surrounding areas on that day to think hard about whether they recognize this man as being someone they have seen, either before or after the incident, or on another day.

"It is also important for members of the public to take into account the description of the clothes and whether you can remember those details too.

"I would like to reassure the public we are doing all we can to trace this man, but we also need your help in bringing him to justice.

"We fully understand the impact an incident like this can have on the community which is why we have continued reassurance patrols around the area."
