A construction company has been chosen to build a £10m leisure centre in Tadworth.

Pellikaan Construction is expected to start building this spring and complete work in autumn next year at the site off Merland Rise.

The leisure centre will boast a six-lane swimming pool, 50-station gym, a studio, sports hall, four five-a-side football pitches, café, crèche, youth centre and community space.

Councillor Adam De Save, executive member for leisure at Reigate and Banstead Council, said: "This new leisure, community and youth centre will provide fantastic, modern facilities for residents in Preston and the surrounding area, improving opportunities to stay fit and healthy.

"Our contractors are in the process of moving the playground to a temporary new home on the edge of the Merland Rise Recreation Ground so it can still be used by local families during construction."

The leisure centre will be built on part of the recreation ground and Banstead Athletic FC’s former training pitch.

The old Tattenham Community Centre will be demolished to make way for the access road and facilities.
