A new book is set to lift the lid on the reality of Britain’s celebrity circuit through the experiences of a local corporate celebrity-booker.
Chairman of Cobham’s Performing Artistes’ agency, Stanley Jackson, is releasing Get Me a Celebrity, charting his high-flying life dealing with leading actors, sports personalities and celebrities.
The launch of the book marks the 20th anniversary of the business and will take place on Monday, September 26, at Daunt Books on Marylebone High Street.
Speaking of his decision to finally write a book, Mr Jackson said: “My wife kept saying over the past 20 years ‘oh you must write all these stories down’, but I was convinced no one would want to read them. In the end I was encouraged to tell my stories and so I did.”
The book features entertaining tales, revelations and anecdotes on Michael Buerk to Ronnie Corbett, George Best to Christopher Timothy, Jimmy Carr to Jo Brand, Selina Scott to Ruby Wax and many more.
Mr Jackson said he has a wonderful working relationship with the celebrities featured in his book - many of whom will be present at the upcoming book launch He said: “I’m sure they’re all coming along to make sure I haven’t written anything bad about them.”
