Thousands flocked to Esher on Saturday, August 28, for the annual West End Summer Show.
The marquee at the event at West End Village Green was filled with a record number of entries for the flower, fruit and vegetable growing competition, with residents Irene Hobbs and Bob Waller scooping many of the prizes.
The organiser also decided to bring back the climbing wall and tug-of-war competition, which had been missing from the event due to safety concerns since 1978.
One of the organisers, Grant Ferret, said the show remained popular because it “celebrates community and tradition over commercialism”.
