Noisy neighbour from Walton gets abatement Asbo

10-year “serial noise offender” was hauled before the courts again last week, after his Walton neighbours complained to the council.

Anthony Brian Oakley was given an Antisocial Behaviour Order (Asbo) after his neighbours in Vicarage Fields complained about loud music, drumming and raised voices coming from his home across several months.

A spokesman for Elmbridge Council said Oakley was well known to them, having been given previous Noise Abatement Orders from as far back as 1999.

Tony Deag, Elmbridge Council’s head of environmental health and licensing, said: “Mr Oakley is a serial noise offender and represents an extreme example of what affected neighbours can be exposed to.

“By working with Surrey Police we have obtained an Asbo to protect local residents from his antisocial behaviour. If the Asbo is breached, our partners in Surrey Police can now arrest Mr Oakley, to stop any further such serious antisocial behaviour.”

The Asbo, granted by Staines Magistrates’ Court on July 19, lasts for two years and bans Oakley from playing loud music, being drunk in a public place, or inciting distress to neighbours.
