Up to 75 per cent of trains will not be running on many routes across London this bank holiday weekend as major improvement works begin at London Waterloo station.
Platforms 1-10 have been closed this week and starting yesterday (August 24) platforms 10-14 have also been closed until August 28.
This is being done so work can start on extending these platforms for longer trains.
National Rail are already warning there will be severe disruption, extremely busy trains, queues at many stations, and longer journey times.
They are especially warning people not to travel by rail in London today, and if you must travel, take an alternative route where there may be more frequent trains.
The improvement work will primarily concern South Western Railway, this means Southern and Thameslink services are expected to be a lot busier.
Chessington South, Chessington North, Malden Manor, Norbiton, Queenstown Road and Tolworth stations will all be closed during that time.
Earlsfield will be closed weekdays only until 10am and between 4.30pm and 7.30pm and Vauxhall will be partially closed and a large number of trains will no longer call there.
National Rail are strongly advising people to avoid the following rail stations at these times:
• Vauxhall - 07:30 to 08:45
• Clapham Junction - 06:45 to 09:30
• Surbiton - 07:30 - 09:00
• London Waterloo - 17:00 to 18:45
• Vauxhall - 17:30 to 18:30
• Clapham Junction - 17:00 - 19:30
• Wimbledon - 17:00 to 19:00
