Evacuated residents have been allowed to return to their homes in Weybridge following the fire at Weybridge Community Hospital.

Hundreds of residents had to be evacuated to the Weybridge Centre in Churchfield Road after the blaze took hold just before midnight on July 11.

Police are allowing residents to return home but are advising people to keep their windows closed as smoke is still likely to be in the air.

Roads around the hospital have all been reopened and the nearby Weybridge Library expects to be open as per normal today (July 13).

Surrey Police say the cause of the fire has not yet been established but that nobody was injured.

Multiple explosions were heard coming from the hospital as the fire spread across all three floors of the building.

In a statement, Surrey Police said: "We’d like to thank everyone for their patience throughout today while our colleagues at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have worked hard to tackle the blaze and partner agencies have coordinated their response."
