Walton is losing an Aldi but gaining a Marks and Spencer Food Hall.
The budget supermarket in Church Street will close at 4pm on Wednesday, May 31, but it will be replaced later in the year by M&S’ food offering.
According to Aldi, site owners Marks and Spencer refused to extend its lease.
A spokesman for Aldi said: “We are extremely disappointed with this decision as the store is very popular with the local community. We are trying to find alternative locations in Walton-on-Thames and will be back in the town as soon as a suitable location becomes available.
“Our new store in Chertsey opens in June and we also have stores nearby in Feltham, Kingston and New Malden, which we look forward to welcoming customers from Walton-on-Thames and the surrounding areas to.”
An M&S spokeswoman said: “We look forward to bringing a new food hall to Walton-on-Thames and offering customers the very best of M&S food and drink. We hope to update the community on an opening date later in the year.”
