The Court of Appeal has rejected Lidl’s attempts to block trade union representation for its workers.
Leading trade union GMB hailed the decision to reject the attempt to overturn a previous ruling as a “massive victory”.
The court ruled the right of the GMB to ballot workers at a site in Bridgend, South Wales, for the supermarket giant for union recognition.
Lorraine Gaskell, regional organiser of the GMB, said: “Despite Lidl's repeated attempts at union-busting, the courts have today upheld a massive victory for workers' rights.
“The company has shown a shocking lack of respect for their own staff's wishes, and wasted shareholders' money with this frivolous appeal.”
A Lidl spokesperson said while they were “disappointed” with the outcome, they “respect the decision”.
Lidl’s headquarters are currently being built in Tolworth.
