Homophobic posters advising against engaging in "buggery" have been plastered around Ockham Common.

The poster, emblazoned with a silhouetted image of two men fornicating alongside the words "No Buggery", have been spotted stapled to trees around the Pond Car Park in Old Lane.

As well as being poorly translated into several other languages including French, German and Dutch, the poster advises 'gentlemen' to 'clean up after themselves'.

The full wording reads: "Gentlemen, if you really can't fine [sic] love in a specialist establishment, or on line [sic], please clear up after yourselves."

The site, just off of the A3, is said to be a known hotspot for 'dogging' - the practice of watching or engaging in sexual activity in a public place.

Baffled dog-walker Grace House stumbled across one such poster this morning.

She said: "I wonder if it means they have a problem with dogging. I'm surprised it's aimed at homosexual men.

"At first I thought it was a joke - which it might be - but it has the Wildlife Trusts logo on it and the sign is the same design as other signs on the common asking dog walkers to pick up their dog poo.

"So it seems like quite a lot of effort for someone to go to just for a joke.

"I could understand if it was in a more prominent place like Richmond Park but to go to such extreme lengths just to put a joke sign on a small common like Ockham seems strange."

A spokeswoman for the Surrey Wildlife Trust, which manages the site, said: "Obviously these posters are very inappropriate and have used the logo of The Wildlife Trusts without permission.

"We have asked our rangers on the site to remove them as soon as possible."
