A group of illegally camped travellers have been ordered to leave Hare Lane Green in Esher after setting up on the site over the weekend.
Elmbridge Council's gypsy/traveller liaison officer visited the site with the police before a notice of direction to leave by July 26 was handed to the group on Monday.
A further group of travellers in Walton could also be moved on after allegedly breaking into land at the Queen Elizabeth II reservoir in Molesey Road.
The group of caravans was spotted at the site on Friday, July 22 by residents.
A spokesman for Thames Water, who owns the land, said they were "taking measures to have the travellers moved on".
A Surrey Police spokeswoman said they were aware of a "temporary traveller incursion". They added that officers had liaised with those on the site and would continue to monitor the situation.
