A software company in Weybridge has become an unlikely hotspot for catching Pokémon after staff discovered they had been designated a Pokéstop on the popular Pokémon Go app.

Sam Tilley, managing director of Agovo at the Old Post House in Elgin Road, said staff found when the augmented-reality app was released that children began gathering outside their office.

He said: "When I noticed all these extra visitors to The Old Post House I was a bit confused and then it all became clear, our office was an official Pokéstop. I then asked some of my staff and found we have a couple of Pokémon Go fans in the office too.

“So on Friday afternoon we decided to have a bit of fun and throw up a banner embracing our new role in the Pokemon world and it went down a storm with the kids from local schools. I had never felt so cool.”

Agovo employee George Russell added that the company frequently pay to upgrade their building on the app to attract lots of Pokémon for short periods of time which “allows everyone in the area to benefit and catch all the Pokémon they desire” from the building.

The Hand and Spear pub next to Weybridge station is also having a Pokémon lure party tonight from 5pm.

Staff will also provide lure modules every 30 minutes, with the pubgoer with the best Pokémon snap winning a £50 prize.
