No criminal charges will be brought in relation to the death of cyclist Ralph Brazier, Surrey Police has said.

Police and the Health and Safety Executive were investigating the death after claims that road maintenance was recently carried out at the junction where Mr Brazier, 52, crashed and fell from his bicycle in March.

That inquiry has now ended, the Surrey Comet can report.

Photographs taken the day after the crash at the junction of Hamm Court and Weybridge Road appeared to show the road surface around a drain had been recently repaired.

A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: “The force carried out a thorough investigation. There is no criminal case to answer and the file will be passed to the coroner.”

Mr Brazier, a father-of-three from Thames Ditton, was described by his wife Karen, 52, as “an inspiration to all those who knew him” and a “devoted father and loving husband who will be very much missed”.

Mr Brazier was a keen cyclist, and a member of both Twickenham Cycling club and Dittons Velo.
