A drink-driver has admitted causing the death of a cyclist in a crash in Walton.

Grandmother Yvonne Wyeth, 55, from East Molesey, was cycling along Molesey Road on May 28 last year when she was killed in a crash that involved a van, tankers and a car.

Jason Taylor, 35, of Dunstable Road, West Molesey, admitted causing death by careless driving when under the influence of drink and being over the prescribed limit.

He also admitted two counts of driving whilst disqualified at Guildford Crown Court on Wednesday.

Ms Wyeth’s brother-in-law, Mark Sherren, told the Evening Standard earlier this year of the family's shock following her death.

He said: "We are all just so upset - we want answers as to how this could have happened.

"It is a dangerous stretch of road, but she knew what she was doing being such an experienced cyclist."

Mr Sherren described her as a "wonderful family woman" and said she doted on her grandchildren and loved her family.

Taylor will appear at Guildford Crown Court on March 3 for sentencing.
