PC Andrew Duncan was killed when he was carrying out a routine traffic operation in Sutton.

He and his colleagues spotted a black Volkswagen Golf driving at more than 80mph before it ploughed into him, throwing him 30 metres along the road.

The PC died as a result of his injuries on September 22 2013, two days after Gary Bromige crashed into him and sped away from the scene.

Bromige was jailed for eight-and-a-half years in February 2014.

A memorial fund set up in PC Duncan’s name has now donated the money to the boat club, where a mosaic rests noting his contributions as a volunteer leader at the Molesey Sea Scouts headquarters.

The PC Andrew Duncan Memorial Fund sponsored PC Duncan’s daughter and Molesey Sea Scouts member Emma with £100 per mile on her 40-mile row from Henley to Molesey in September.

PC Duncan’s sister and Fund Trustee Julia Williamson said: "This is a very appropriate project for us to support with money raised in Andrew's memory.

"He was passionate about the water, loved watching Emma row, and was very proud of her achievements."

The money will go towards the club’s community rowing centre which is in the process of being built and will undergo its final phase in December.

Rowers will be able to use the centre in early 2016.
