An alleged assault happened in the woods near Brooklands College.

Police tape and a heavy police presence were seen in the woods near Brooklands College last night and this morning.

Police tape stretching the whole length of the woods past the turn-off to Elgin Road has been left.

There were a number of police cars by the entrance to the college.

People took to Twitter to find out what was going on.

Jeremy Parkin said: "Police have taped off wooded area in Weybridge from Brooklands College towards town."

 


 

Charlie D asked last night: "Anyone know what's going on on Heath Road by Brooklands College/Elgin Road? Police tape across woods and police cars nearby #Weybridge"

Bradley Rogers replied: "No - but it was still there, and a police presence at the houses in the woods this morning - ongoing @SurreyPolice operation?"

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “Surrey Police is investigating following a report of a teenage girl being assaulted by a man in a wooded area off Station Approach in Weybridge at 4.55pm yesterday (Tuesday, December 16).

“Following the incident officers from the Elmbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team have stepped up patrols in the area and offered personal safety advice to residents and students at the nearby college. House to house enquiries have also been conducted.”

Two schools, Brooklands College, and Heathside School are situated in the middle of the woods.

A spokesman from Brooklands College said: "We always advise our students to walk along the main road or along a public highway."

An employee at Adrenaline Adventure Ropes, on Brooklands College campus, did not see any police this morning but said: "When I drove into the college this morning there was lots of police tape."

A man in his 50s has been arrested and is currently in custody.
