A sixth form student who has been performing since she was seven, sung her heart out last weekend to secure a place in a national competition semi-final.
Jess Spink, 17, is studying music technology, chemistry and maths at Hinchley Wood School Sixth Form and entered Open Mic UK.
Now through to the Southern England Final on Saturday, November 29, Miss Spink, of Thorne Close, Claygate, said: "To progress to the semi final in this national competition is so exciting.
"I love songwriting, playing piano and performing, which I have done on a local level for the last two years."
Miss Spink, who attended Long Ditton Infant School and Thames Ditton Junior School, sung at the regional final at The Great Hall, Hove, on Saturday, October 18.
