A bath, television, chairs and broken glass were just some of the items that disrupted traffic and closed a road.

The fly-tipping of various household items resulted in a backlog of traffic, as sweepers needed to clear the debris scattered across a chunk of Walton Road, West Molesey.

Officers were sent from the council and contractors were called in to collect the waste.

Police were called to section of the road between the two reservoirs to direct traffic in the early hours of Monday, October 20, and remained until mid-morning.

A council spokesman said: "Council officers visited the site but regrettably could find no evidence to link the fly-tip to an address or the perpetrators.

"The illegal actions of an individual has caused considerable inconvenience to the community in addition to the costs involved with the clear up."

In an bid to encourage communities to look out for and report suspicious activity, the council has set up a rewards scheme.

If you have any information about this particular fly-tipping, or any other fly tip that leads to a successful prosecution, you could receive up to £500.
