A golf tournament filled with famous faces raised nearly £3,000 for Princess Alice Hospice.

Joining snooker legend John Virgo, who organised the event, were 132 golfers including Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall, James Bond stuntman Rocky Taylor and entertainer Kenny Lynch.

As golfers made their way around the course at Hersham Golf Club, attention turned to the 12th hole where glasses of champagne were handed out.

After playing an 18 hole round in the sunshine, participants enjoyed a hog roast and entertainment from comedian Bobby Davro, Mr Lynch and Mr Virgo.

With the help of a raffle and auction, £2,800 was raised for the Esher hospice.

Mr Virgo said: "Everyone had a fantastic day and we’ve been blessed with the fantastic weather. The most important thing, however, is obviously that we’ve been able to raise some money for a fantastic charity."
