Transform Housing and Support celebrated the successful completion of pilot project Emergency Winter Shelter this month.

The charity held a celebratory event after the winter shelter provided emergency overnight accommodation for homeless people in Elmbridge.

It gave a warm and dry place to sleep, with a hot meal, for up to five people who would have otherwise been sleeping rough.

The event on April 5 gave volunteers, partners, donors and supporters the chance to meet each other.

Paul Mitchell, chief executive of transform housing and support, said: “We are very pleased with the results of this pilot project, which has shown that there is a need for more support for homeless people in Elmbridge, particularly over the winter.

“We are now reviewing the project and discussing with our partners how we can support homeless people in the area in future.”
