Elmbridge Council has formally called the election of a third of borough seats to be held on May 22.
The election cycle which occurs every three years, candidates from the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, Residents’ Association and independents will seek to win over a number of closely fought wards including Esher, Claygate, Hersham North and Hersham South.
Ex-Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie will also be standing as an independent in St George’s Hill.
The deadline for nominations has been set for Thursday, April 24, while those seeking to register to vote or to vote by post must do so by May 7 and May 14 respectively.
