Patients at Princess Alice Hospice were treated to a day of relaxation as the hospice transformed into a beauty parlour.

Female visitors to the day hospice were given beauty advice and treated to makeovers by freelance beautician Grace Roper on Wednesday, July 24, as part of a look good, feel great day.

Relaxation sessions, reflexology and manicures were also on offer and a hairdressers who specialises in cutting, fitting and styling wigs was on hand to offer tips, advice and styling sessions.

Yvonne Ovenden, a Princess Alice Hospice patient, said: “I’ve been a bit down and today has really brought me back up. I've had a relaxation session, which was wonderful and have had my nails done.

“I’ve really enjoyed spending the day catching up with old friends here as well.”

Sharon Penny, complementary therapy coordinator and organiser of the day, said: “Our day hospice patients can often lose confidence because their illnesses can change their appearances.

“We all know the benefits that a bit of pampering can provide and so we wanted to give that to our day hospice ladies.”

The Esher hospice is planning another look good, feel great session as part of its hospice care week activities in October.
