"Not My PM" T-shirts selling like hotcakes

While most of the voters in Kingston and Surbiton went for either a Conservative or Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, not everyone was happy about the coalition.

Banquet Records in Kingston launched a limited edition £8 Not My PM T-shirt to protest against David Cameron’s ascension.

It is also selling a 7in record called Hangin.

Manager John Tolley said: “Regardless of personal opinion, this is what all our punters are saying.

"I’m no politician but everyone I know seems to be really put out by this. They didn’t vote for David Cameron to be Prime Minister.”

He has sold 60 so far, many to 15-year-olds not old enough to vote.

At the election, 49,296 of the 80,000 voted for either Edward Davey or Helen Whately but few could have expected a coalition of the sort outlined this week.

Dear Guardian staff,

Please reference this article the next time you run a self-serving piece on the perils of council newspapers and the central role that independent local newspapers play in our democracy.
