Building work nearly complete on £44m Croydon care home project

The finishing touches are being made to a pair of state-of-the-art care homes as part of a £44m project.

Building work on the Addington Heights and Langley Oaks resource centres is close to completion, with residents due to move in during the summer.

The centres, which the council says will “revolutionise care for older people in Croydon”, feature en-suite bathrooms and access to a range of care services and health advice.

They will bring the total number of residential and nursing places in the borough to 150, plus 40 extra care flats and 128 day care places.

Councillor Lindsay Frost, the council’s cabinet member for health and adult social care, said: “These resource centres are part of a huge project that will have an enormously positive impact on the lives of people who require high levels of care.

“They are the final parts of a plan to radically improve the standard of living for hundreds of our most needy elderly residents.”

The best thing that came out of the last Labour Council. A great scheme with quality care at the centre of it.

They were the days when the Council used to go out of its way to do things for ordinary Council Tax Payers.
