A kind and neighbourly Surbiton family are said to be distraught following the death of their photographer son who fell out of a third floor window.

Peter Alexander, 28, fell to his death at a party celebrating London Fashion Week in Shoreditch, east London, last Thursday.

Mr Alexander, a talented photographer who had exhibited in London, Iceland and the US, struck the pavement and was thought to have died almost immediately.

A distraught female relative, who answered the door at the family home in Berrylands, said they did not wish to say anything further at this point.

A neighbour, who did not want to be named, described the family as “very good people” and Peter as a “nice young man”.

He said: “They are very good people. I know Peter and I know his mum and father Keith. I have not seen them but I understand they are very upset, which is completely understandable.

“My heart goes out to them; I can’t imagine how terrible they must be feeling.”

Michael Oliveira-Salac of fashion PR company Blow, which hosted the party to showcase designers and stylists, said: "We are all very distressed by the incident. It is not an easy time.

"We have been provided little or no information as the police are still doing their investigation. Obviously our thoughts are with the families of the deceased and the injured man."

The other man, a model who was said to have landed on a parked car, suffered pelvic injuries and is now in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Police believe there were no suspicious circumstances.
