The French prosecutor investigating the deaths of the Al-Hilli family from Claygate has said clues to why they were killed lie in the UK.
Speaking to the press outside Woking police station yesterday, Eric Maillaud said: “Without any doubt the reasons or the causes have their origin in this country.
“It is only by being together that we will find the murderers."
Assistant Chief Constable Rob Price said: “This is a French led investigation. Surrey Police and other agencies within Surrey will do all we can to support this investigation.
“We are all operating with a determination and a focus and always have in mind the victims and all those who have been affected by this tragic incident.”
Saad Al-Hilli, his wife Iqbal and her mother were shot dead in their BMW in France on Wednesday, September 5.
The family’s two children, Zainab, 7, and Zeena, 4, were the only survivors in the attack.
