A crash in which a man was hospitalised caused long tailbacks for nearly two hours on the A3 this morning.

The 65 year old was taken to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, with neck and shoulder injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car on the Hook Road junction of the A3 at 8.15am.

He was taken as a priority to the Tooting hospital, though his current condition was unknown.

Transport for London said motorists faced delays approaching Tolworth from near Malden Junction until about 10.30am, but said traffic was now flowing well.
