A row over a child's scooter may have led to a vicious assault on a woman in a pub.

Police want to speak to the two men in these CCTV images in connection with a serious assault on a 39-year-old woman.

Police believe the men may have travelled in to Sutton from Kingston, Surrey or Ewell.

The incident happened at the Nonsuch Inn, London Road, North Cheam, on Thursday, March 22 at 5.15pm.

Two men entered the busy pub and approached a dinner table where a man and a woman and their nine-year-old son were sitting.

One of the men punched the woman hard on the nose and she collapsed.

The two men left quickly and drove off two vehicles waiting outside.

The vehicles were a silver Golf and a silver Astra van with distinctive orange and red chevrons on the back doors.

Fifteen minutes earlier the couple’s son had run his scooter into a woman waiting at a bus stop outside the pub.

Police said words were exchanged between the family and the woman, who was waiting for a bus towards Ewell.

One of the men who came into the pub said that this woman was his mother.

The victim suffered a broken nose and fractured cheek and is still being treated.

Police said the two men in the pictures may not be involved and may be ruled out of their investigation.
