Work to improve the appearance of the Jolly Boatman site ahead of the Olympics and Hampton Court Flower Show is well under way.

After months of complaints about the aesthetics of the site, home builder Gladedale and Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) are working together to temporarily landscape the controversial site alongside Hampton Court station.

Litter, debris and overgrown vegetation have already been cleared and Gladedale has erected a low level fence around the site’s entire perimeter.

HRP has undertaken to import clean topsoil and lay and maintain grass over the whole Jolly Boatman site.

Gladedale and HRP have both committed to ensuring that the temporary landscaping is maintained until the end of 2012, or until work starts.

A date for the development site is yet to be established due to a number of planning obligations which must first be met by Gladedale.
