A photographer has received this year’s Surrey Comet cup for his photograph titled Busker.
Chris Whaley, 67, of Oliver Road, New Malden, was inspired to take the snap in black and white in the street outside the Bentall Centre after seeing the eye contact between two people in the shot.
Winner Mr Whaley said: "I was just looking around on the street and these two caught my eye.
"It is nice to win a cup, especially because I do not do a lot of street photos – it’s not my thing. So to win a cup doing a street photo - I am quite pleased."
The Surrey Comet cup has been given to a photographer from the New Malden Camera club every year for the past 30 years.
Mr Whaley has been part of the club for more than 15 years and said the best thing about being involved in the group has been learning from other photographers. To view more photos submissions from local photographers, the New Malden Camera Club will be hosting an annual free exhibition at New Malden Methodist Church for three days from Thursday, June 28. Visitors to the exhibition will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite picture for the people’s choice trophy.
