Co-workers have paid tribute to a mother of two who was found dead in her home.

Margot Sheehy, 58, was discovered by colleagues from IntelliFlo who forced their way into her flat after she failed to turn up for work on Tuesday, June 12.

Detectives immediately launched a murder investigation and a postmortem later revealed she died from asphyxiation.

Colleagues from the Kingston-based finance firm where she worked are struggling to come to terms with the news.

A spokesperson for IntelliFlo said: "Naturally we are all extremely shocked to have lost a valued colleague in this awful way.

“Margot was a very well liked and respected member of our company and will be sorely missed.

"Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this difficult time.”

The Surrey Comet spoke to a colleague who said she had found Miss Sheehy at her flat in Springfield Road, Kingston, last Tuesday afternoon but she said she was to upset to comment further.

A police cordon guarding the ground floor property while forensic teams gathering evidence came down on Friday afternoon.

The converted Victorian flat, which stands in the shadow of St John the Evangelist Church just metres from Kingston University, remains bordered up.

A woman living in the same block, who asked not to be named, said she did not know Ms Sheehy but was shocked and saddened that something “so terrible” could happen in Kingston.

She said: “It is really shocking to think that it could happen just metres from where I live and sleep. I didn’t know her as I have only been here a short time but it is really sad for her and her family.

door to mine. I walked pasted it today. Creepy.”

Miss Sheehy, who detectives believe lived alone in the flat, is thought to have two sons, one of which is living abroad.
