A schoolboy hit by a black cab has died.

The Robin Hood primary school pupil died on Tuesday after he was hit while riding his bike near a busy A3 junction on Monday.

The eight year old was on his way home from school when he was hit by the vehicle on Robin Hood Way at 4pm.

He was taken by air ambulance to St George’s hospital in Tooting with head injuries but died yesterday.

A spokesman for the police said: “His family have been informed but we are not in a position to name him at the moment.

"A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course."

The driver of the cab stopped at the scene. He was not arrested.

Yesterday headteacher Jeff Lloyd said teachers were working to inform children of the accident.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the accident.

Witnesses should call the traffic garage witness line on 0208 941 9011.
