A wig maker who has created hairpieces for Harry Potter goblins and moustaches for the 118 118 twins is turning her attention to sparing the blushes of real people who have lost their hair.

Amy Holt, 26, has worked on Midsomer Murders, the Glyndebourne Opera Festival and her latest wig-work can be seen in Spielberg’s War Horse.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart will be on screen with crowd members whose hair has been done by Amy in the new Snow White and the Huntsman movie.

But from her new base in Portland Road, Kingston, the Hampton woman is focusing on helping women and men who have lost their hair through medical treatment, alopecia or natural balding.

She said: “People don’t know that wig-makers exist. It would be nice for people who need the service to know it’s there.

“It can change their everyday living when they need to wear one. They get lumbered with wigs that don’t look good.”

The former St Elizabeth’s, Richmond, and Newland House, Twickenham, schoolgirl went straight to the BBC wig department after she left the London of College and Fashion where she learned her trade.

When JK Rowling’s vision of goblins needed realising, she was one of the team called upon to stitch up their wigs.

She said: “Every goblin’s head was differently shaped so each wig was different.”
