A Willy Wonka-style prize of a lifetime gave one Esher child the chance to look behind the scenes of a sweet factory.

Toby Milnes, from Esher, was one of 10 children to win national competition Haribo Little Apprentice 2011 and got to enter the happy world of Haribo as his prize.

While there he got to sample treats and come up with his own ideas, flavours and textures for new sweets.

To win the prize, the seven-year-old had to tell Haribo how he would run one of the largest sweet factories in the country for a day.

He also helped design new Haribo sweets, such as fizzy lizards which would be called Fizzards.

Haribo’s brand communication manager Louise Morrison said: “Some of the ideas we received really gave us an insight into the creativity and imaginations of the children with some fantastic suggestions about how they would run the factory for a day.

“Toby certainly rose to the challenge with some fun-filled ideas.”
