Fairfield Halls’ new reception area played host to the architects who designed it as they celebrated their 100th anniversary.

Howard Fairbairn MHK has come a long way since gaining the contract to design Reigate Town Hall at the start of the last century, designing everything from schools and stations to art deco buildings in Pall Mall at the height of its glory.

Managing director Alan Longhurst said: “I think just about the only thing we haven’t done in 100 years is an airport.”

In addition to the recent makeover of Fairfield Halls’ reception, Croydon buildings which bear the architects’ style include the Philips building, Mayday Hospital’s new foyer and endoscopy unit and Caring4Croydon Langley Oaks, as well as the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Purley Way and Warlingham Secondary School‘s swimming pool.

Company chairman Howard Richman said: “We believe this kind of historical track record is almost unique.

“Ultimately our client has a dream of what could be, and it is our job to work with them to deliver that dream.”
